This drawing was produced back in January of 2014. There is a layer over this character that was meant to hide the real inspiration behind this drawing. I decided to post this drawing with the cover up layer over it because I wanted to focus more on my education. But now it's time for me to reveal what I had really been thinking of at the time I drew this.
That's right. I was thinking of a new addition to my family. I wanted to post this at the same time I posted the other version on January 24th but I felt the time was not right. I did not become pregnant until May 2014. Now that everyone knows I am expecting, I can freely display this old image.
So I was recently inspired by 2 of my friends back in NJ to draw again. I don't want to go into detail about how they inspired me but I'm going to share the digital art work I created to appreciate the both of them.
Hello fellow viewers! It sure has been a long time since my last post. I wanted to let you all know of a very important update. This is a huge life changing update that could either put a hold on my career OR help me to advance a little faster. Who knows? I guess it all depends on where life takes me after this.
Anyway here is the news: I MOVED TO FLORIDA! Yup! I've been living over here since November 1st and guess what! I'm not too far from my Disney career now. I'm just a couple miles away but I would still like to complete my Bachelor's Degree in Animation/Illustration and Intern a couple more times before I'll be ready to approach Disney professionally.
So what happened to Bloomfield College, you ask? Weeeeell I had to withdraw from classes for this emergency move. I was not doing well in my tiny apartment in Bloomfield. Things got overwhelming, depressing and sickening (literally, I got sick way too often living in that cramped space). Ever since I moved here to Florida I've been feeling and doing so much better. It's like, why didn't I just up and move during the summer?! It's THE BOMB over here! Lol!
I've settled into my Mom's house quite nicely. I was depressed at first but after the first 3 weeks things started to pick up and I was starting to appreciate the place. I also found that signing up for assistance over here in Florida is a cake walk compared to applying for assistance in NJ. You have to wait FOOOOOR-EEEEEVER in NJ and you have to stand in long lines ALL DAY! But over here in Florida, applying for assistance is as easy as logging into your computer and going to one website that does EVERYTHING for you! It's a dream come true over here and I can better concentrate on other things like my daughter finally going to school. I couldn't get her in when we lived in NJ, She just started attending a free Preschool program like 2 weeks ago! Florida is amazing!
Sorry for the ranting though. I'm just so happy that things are finally going my way. Oh ya! I almost forgot to mention that next week Thursday, I will officially be 8 months pregnant with my second daughter. Things just keep getting better and better don't they?!
Well I'd better go update my Fiverr account and get back to my loyal clients who have been waiting oh so patiently for me to settle in and get back on my feet. Thank you to everyone who has been patient with me and supportive of my move to Florida. I'm happy and healthy and moving on in life!
Here is a little something below that I drew up a little while ago. The chick on the left is the greatest little sister in the world who takes care of me and my daughter on our off days. My 1st daughter is in the middle and the one on the right is me on a bad hair day. Lol. We still look cool though. It was a fun day.
I was bored today so... I made up a random character, with a randomly made up name in an illustration of a randomly picked song from Pandora. I give you Carlton Brown The Cat in Make You Feel My Love by Adele.
So I was pondering ideas on what sort of gig I should start doing next. At the same time I wanted to draw something cute, so I started off with Pikachu form Pokemon. I didn't want it to be just any old ordinary Pikachu though so, I thought, why not color him differently. "But What colors?", I said. Just then my stomach made a noise so I went to go feed myself. The first thing I saw when I looked into the cabinet was a box of Trix cereal. The Trix Rabbit was obsessing over those colorful bits of sugar again and that's when I got the idea to make Pikachu the colors of the Trix Rabbit. I shall call him..... PITRIX!
After that I needed another idea on what sort of characters to combined. My partner thought he was giving me a hard one when he chose Radical Edward from Cowboy Bebop and Michelangelo from TMNT. Together they became..... EDDIANGELO!
One client had a big request for an image of 600dpi. I didn't think my computer would be able to take it but I managed to get it done. It was actually quite fun drawing up the scenery as well as the characters that kind of just came off the top of my head as I was putting this whole thing together. The client had a story line in mind but while I was recreating it I put a couple personalities of my own in that might make the scene interesting and somehow tell the client's story without words.
We started off with a simple sketch of what the client was looking for. This was the original idea.
This was the end result. The client wanted resemblances of Makoshika Park in the background so there is a bit of scenery back there with some structures I quickly faded together.
This is the main character Katie. She was injured during the game and was put on the sidelines to watch while they had a less enthusiastic player take her place.
I was thinking, the girl in green with the pony braid was the shy and timid team player on Katie's team.
The girl in orange is the team captain of the opposing team who is actually pretty friendly and a fair player.
This girl is the cautious player on Katie's team, who could also be Katie's best friend.
This girl is a star player on the opposing team who cares only about winning.
This girl is a trouble maker on the opposing team and is known to cheat.
This girl is Katie's team captain, she's a bad ass who doesn't like to lose but she encourages the team even on their off days.
These are the soccer moms! Proud and cheering for their girls during the game.
Again these aren't the actual personalities or roles that the girls in the images play in the real story. This is just what I've been imagining as I drew them.
A client of mine wanted to create a logo out of a portrait of herself. She started off with a different Fiverr artist and then somehow found me. I re-created the image on the left in my own style and used a portrait of the client to make the facial features more realistic.
There were a number of different versions of her after that to get the right feel for her logo.
I flipped the image.
I widened her smile, took away the rings and made her wink.
I tried drawing her in a different pose.
Then I went back to raise her smile and eyebrows once more.
And finally I made her look through the magnifying glass.
My client was pleased with this one.
With all the editing I did, this could have been an animation she said. She's even thinking about having me animate it now. LOL!
Recently I've had the chance to work with a wonderful client who hosts her own Weight Loss Program to inspire women to loose weight by "Living Wildly". Her program is called "Wildly Alive Weight Loss" and you can see what her program has to offer here: http://wildlyaliveweightloss.com/
Here are a couple of the unfinished works I did for her that I really enjoyed making. I didn't post some of the completed work because I want to leave that to her site to show off, but you'll know my work on her site when you see it, because it is very similar to these few images. Nichole, I wish you the best of luck with your business! :-)
All of the following portraits, except for the last, were requested by my favorite customer, digitalbrothers. These sketches were not accepted as the final product and needed modification so that they could be used as children's coloring pages. I felt they were all too nice to not be posted even though they are not a finished product so here they are!
Here are some old and new updated Fiver requests I'm just now getting the chance to post. Some of them are meant to be coloring pages for kids as my clients had explained to me. Some of the more detailed sketches; I just felt generous with my air brush tool. You may notice that a lot of these sketches are of famous African American People. My main client likes to appreciate African American Heros and drawing up these portraits for him also helped me to appreciate them as well. :-)
